AppsDBA.com Standby Database Administration
This following sections describe the setup of a
symmetrical physical standby database environment. Information has been
included for Oracle9i and Oracle 10g physical standby databases with
Data Guard operation. Solaris and Linux information has also been
included. The architecture consists of creating a symmetric Data Guard
environment using a single instance primary database and a single
physical standby database on a separate server. The Data Guard standby
database will be set up in "managed recovery" mode to automate the
process of keeping the standby in sync with the primary database. OEM 9i
Data Guard setup will be covered as well as 10g Data Guard broker setup.
Additional information has been included covering Flashback Database
options and failover versus switchover configurations.
